Multiple Antibiotic Resistant Coagulase Negative Staphylococci (MARCoNS) is a type of antibiotic-resistant staph infection that typically colonises deep within the nasal passages. These bacteria are resistant to multiple antibiotics due to their ability to develop resistance and adapt to various environments, making infections challenging to treat. MARCoNS can significantly impact health, contributing to chronic fatigue, hormonal imbalances, and systemic issues. Testing for MARCoNS is particularly relevant for individuals exposed to mould, as well as those who are immunocompromised, have diabetes, or have undergone frequent antibiotic treatments. The test involves culturing bacteria and fungi from nasal swab samples to identify MARCoNS and other microbial pathogens. Results from this test can guide tailored therapeutic strategies, addressing the infection and any underlying mould-related complications, helping to improve patient outcomes
